I run Sunsave and do the in-home consults myself. This is why the company exists.
How I got here
I've been in the solar industry for four years. I started as an electrical apprentice and spent my first years installing solar and battery systems as a contractor for other companies around Victoria. The pattern was the same everywhere: sales promised whatever closed the deal, and once the system was on the roof, the company was hard to reach.
The volume operations were the worst. Ten systems a week, sold to anyone with a roof, with little thought about whether the system suited the home. I installed plenty of systems that made no sense for the people living in them, and that's what made me want to do it differently.
The standard every design has to pass is simple: would I put this on my own roof? If the answer's no, I won't put it on yours.
What that looks like in practice
- I come to you. I do the in-home consults myself: your roof, your switchboard and your bills, in person. It's a proper sit-down, which is why we ask that everyone who owns the home is there for it.
- Questions before quotes. How you use power, when you use it, what's coming — EV, heat pump, going all-electric. The design comes out of your answers, not off a package list.
- Numbers that account for winter. Solar makes much less in a Victorian winter than in summer, and my estimates show both.
- Hardware with good local support. We fit Sigenergy and GoodWe, and ESY Sunhome for budget systems, chosen for build quality and how each manufacturer handles warranty claims.
Who does the installs
Licensed electricians who are accredited solar and battery installers. Their licence and accreditation numbers are on our licences & insurance page, so you can check them yourself.

Where we work
Based in Boronia, installing across Melbourne's outer east and south-east: the Dandenong Ranges, the Yarra Valley out to Warburton and Reefton, Kinglake, Knox, Maroondah and the Yarra Ranges, Casey and Cardinia, the Mornington Peninsula, Bass Coast and Phillip Island, and South Gippsland through Korumburra, Leongatha, Inverloch and Venus Bay. Big roofs, real usage, people who want their power bill dealt with properly.
