Maybe not. If your usage is mostly daytime and modest, more panels can beat a battery on value. If you use a lot of power at night, are on the right tariff, or want blackout backup, a battery can be transformative. We'll do the sums on your actual bills and tell you which you are — we've told people not to buy batteries from us, and one of our five-star reviews is from a bloke we told not to buy anything at all.

Standard solar shuts off in a blackout — that's a safety requirement, and plenty of people only find out when the power's off. If backup matters to you, tell us early: the system needs to be designed for it (battery with backup capability, and deciding which circuits stay on). It's a design decision, not an add-on sticker.

What suits you depends on your setup — it's part of the design conversation, not one-size-fits-all.

Both. Adding a battery to existing solar is common — we'll check what your current system can support first. And sometimes the right answer is that your existing system just isn't set up properly: we've found misconfigured settings from previous installers and handed the customer a fix list instead of a quote, free. If that's your situation, that's what you'll get.
